Around 1500 students from the city based Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and KIIT International School took part in the awareness rally, which started from KIIT campus and covered Magnetix square before reaching the KIIT campus again.
The programme has been organised with an aim to sensitise students about the recent developments in space technology and uses of satellites and launching vehicles, said a KIIT official.
Governor Dr. SC Jamir had inaugurated the two day long ‘World Space Week Celebrations 2017’ at KIIT University yesterday.
The World Space Week is celebrated across the world from October 4-10 to commemorate two events: Launch of the first man made satellite Sputnik-1 on 4th October 1957, and signing of the treaty on principles governing the activities of states in the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space on 10th October, 1967.
