A Japanese manga creator who is referred to as the “Japanese Baba Vanga” has ignited international interest with a new prophecy that has everyone in East Asia on tenterhooks. Rio Tatsuki’s manga, “The Future I Saw,” has been deciphered as predicting historic events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2011 tsunami. She now predicts a huge natural disaster that will occur on July 5, 2025, at 4:18 AM, potentially between Japan and the Philippines.

Tatsuki’s drawing shows the sea “boiling,” with many speculating an underwater volcanic eruption or powerful earthquake that might cause a devastating tsunami. The prophecy has gone viral, with social media hashtags such as #July5Disaster and #RioTatsukiPrediction trending online. Travel bookings to Japan have therefore fallen dramatically, with cancellations of as much as 83% from destinations such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China. Already, some airlines have postponed flights in early July due to low demand and fear from the public.

Miyagi Governor Yoshihiro Murai has asked people to keep calm, saying, “There is no scientific evidence to prove the existence of these claims. People should be calm and responsible.” Authorities in charge of disaster management have also cautioned against the dissemination of false information and use of unverified sources. “No one is running away from Japan,” Murai reassured, as authorities attempt to assuage the spreading panic.

For a long time, Tatsuki’s forecasts have been a topic of speculation; some have interpreted these forecasts as either metaphorical or metaphorical and others as ominous and threatening, but her influences on public perception is incredible, and this case shows the power of viral predictions in modern society. With July 5, 2025 approaching, East Asia is on high alert and professionals are advocating for rationality, indicating there is no scientific basis for this prediction.
