Energy drink is full of caffeine and sugar, and it will definitely boost you. However, this will harm you in the long run if you keep drinking energy drinks, as most people drink energy drinks when they are extremely tired and have to work for exceedingly long hours. This will give you temporary enthusiasm and is NOT the cure for an insufficient amount of sleep, highly stressed environments, and an unhealthy lifestyle.

Apart from all this, it will only worsen your condition:

  • Heart problems

This drink contains a huge amount of caffeine. Drinking too much of it at once will raise your heartbeat drastically. You may experience palpitations, blood pressure increase or heartaches. Be careful if you already suffer from heart related problems.

  • Sleep disorder

Energy drinks are famous for disturbing your sleeping pattern. Drinking energy drinks late at night or during the afternoon may cause an individual to be unable to sleep for a period of hours, resulting in a wide awake and active and focused daytime and a lethargic and drowsy and unproductive day in bed which will make you drink an energy drink again.

  • Anxiety and restlessness

Too much caffeine will result in high levels of anxiety and restlessness; you will feel jumpy and unable to be calm. Having too much caffeine could even lead to panic attacks.

  • Energy crash

This will boost you instantly but will wear off in just a couple of minutes, leaving you feeling more tired than before. This phase is called an “energy crash”.

  • Weight gain

Most of the energy drinks contain too much sugar, and so they also give your body many extra calories which could eventually cause a weight gain. Consuming excessive sugar would bring many health problems.

  • Increased risk of type 2 diabetes

Consuming sugary energy drinks will increase sugar levels in the blood and cause the risk of type 2 diabetes if they are accompanied with unhealthy food.

  • Dehydration

You will not get your daily requirement of water from this bottle. When you drink an energy drink, you lose water because they contain too much caffeine. This can lead to dehydration especially during hot temperatures or after exercising and when there is not enough water intake during the day.

  • Headaches

People could have a headache after consuming energy drinks, probably due to high caffeine content, or because your body is accustomed to drink the drink to maintain functioning at the desired level and thus will produce opposite effects.

  • Teeth damage

This high-sugar and acidic drink will diminish the strength of your tooth enamel and expose them to cavities. You may face many problems associated with the teeth.

  • Addiction/dependency

It may even cause dependency or in other words, addiction. It has some nasty effects on both your body and mind.

Alternatives drinks:

  • Sleep at least 7 to 9 hours per night.
  • Keep your body hydrated and drink lots of water every day.
  • Eat a healthy and well-balanced diet that contains lots of fruits, vegetables and proteins.
  • Make sure to have an energizing and refreshing workout on a regular basis.
  • Take short nap or short rest when you are very tired.
  • Meditate and yoga to relax.

The side effects that the energy drinks will bring on your mind, body and heart have a far greater potential to bring on harmful outcomes than all of the positive results that will come from this drink, the energy boost from an energy drink will only be temporary and damaging. An energizing and satisfying day will come even when an energy drink isn’t involved.
