Breast Cancer: Here’s guide to early symptom and significance of early diagnosis

Breast Cancer has become common these days. This cancer develops when cells in breast multiply and expand out of control and turn into a lump of tissue.

Detecting this cancer in the earlier stage is really important. If detected earlier, the cancer can be stopped from spreading to the tissues around your breast.

Though early-stage of it typically exhibit no symptoms, here are some early signs of breast cancer.

Symptoms: 

  • Breast soreness that persists after your next period
  • Change to the contour of the nipple
  • Fresh lump that persists for long period
  • Redness, swelling, skin irritation, itching or rash on the breast
  • Swelling around the collarbone or under the arm or lump
  • Change in breast’s size or form
  • Discolored skin or flaky skin on the breast or nipple

Treatment: 

  • surgery to remove the breast tumour
  • radiation therapy to reduce recurrence risk in the breast and surrounding tissues
  • medications to kill cancer cells and prevent spread, including hormonal therapies, chemotherapy or targeted biological therapies.

According to reports given by the World Health Organization (WHO), age-standardized breast cancer mortality in high-income countries have dropped by 40% between the 1980s and 2020. Meanwhile, countries that have succeeded in reducing breast cancer mortality have been able to achieve an annual mortality reduction of 2 to 4 percent per year.
