Beauty queen provides financial assistance to students

Balasore: Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Perhaps believing on this famous quote by Nelson Mandela, the Balasore based Ankita Shaw Foundation has come up to help a few needy students to get higher education.

Run by beauty queen Kalpasa Ankita Shaw, the foundation has lately felicitated P. Omm Prakash Mahuria and Ipsita Giri of Nilagiri in the district and announced to provide financial assistance to them for any higher education they would choose to pursue.

Both the beneficiaries passed HSC examinations this year. However, since their families don’t have sufficient means to afford for their higher studies, they were not in a plan to admit them in any institution for higher studies.

In this juncture, Kalpasa came to know about their financial crunch and wanted to extend a helping hand. Members of the Foundation approached the beneficiaries’ place, felicitated them and assured to provide them financial assistance.

Kalpasa Ankita Shaw, the chief functionary of the Trust said, “I think, be it a village or a city, education is very important. These two students totally deserve higher education because they are very good students. Hence our Foundation wanted to help out.”

“Their families can’t afford to spend for their higher studies but we will provide them financial assistance for any education they will choose,” she added.

Mrs. Rashmi Das, who was also present on this occasion said, “I am happy that my daughter Kalpasa is trying to help out needy students and I am always with her in this noble work. I am proud of my daughter’s interest in helping the needy ones.”

Kalpasa rose to fame after being crowned as Miss Balasore in 2012. Later the gorgeous girl bagged many titles including the Miss Odisha Perfect and Miss Photogenic in 2013. Probably, she is the first Odia girl whose portrait, named ‘Dream Girl’, has got a place at the Australia Art Gallery. She is the brand ambassador for Aroma Naturals beauty brand. She has been voted as the most beautiful woman in a survey.

On the other hand, she has also grabbed recognition thanks to her social work. Under the aegis of Ankita Shaw Foundation, she has been doing social work to help out the needy persons. She often visits orphanages in Balasore to spend some time with the children and to provide them food, gifts, and stationaries.
