7th Pay Commission: Central employees likely to get HRA hike, DA hike before Holi

The central government employees and pensioners, who are eagerly waiting for dearness allowance (DA) hike, are likely to get double bonanza ahead of the Holi festival next month.

Following the announcement of All India Consumer Price Index and presentation of the Union Budget 2022 by the Union Finance Mister, the speculation regarding the increase in dearness allowance by up to 3 percent has gained further momentum.

If reports of several national media including the Zee Hindi website, are believed to be true, the central government may increase dearness allowance by up to another 3 percent, leading to a substantial hike in the salary of the central government employees. This apart, the government is also likely to make announcements regarding House Rent Allowance (HRA) hike.

More than 50 lakh central government employees and 61 lakh pensioners will get the benefit if the HRA and DA are hiked before the festival of Holi.

The government will hike the DA of the central employees based on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. The central employees’ DA will rise to 34 percent if increased by 3 percent. Currently, the central employees are getting 31 percent of DA.
