Tension still prevails at Dhamra port as 4 workers killed in mishapBhadrak: Tension continued to prevail in the premises of Dhamra Port following the death of four labourers in a mishap which took place during coal loading at the port around noon on Tuesday.

Out of the four bodies recovered from the spot, two deceased labourers have been identified as Gurupad Mandal and Dipu Mandal.

Four injured workers rescued from the accident site have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition. Several other workers are also believed to have been trapped under mounds of coal.

The mishap, considered to be the biggest one in the port, took place when a coal heap caved in while a group of workers were loading coal at around 12 PM today.

Hundreds of fellow workers, along with local residents, set afire the main gate of the port and ransacked the office. They also torched many cars and bikes parked in the premises of the port.

They attacked CEO Subrat Tripathy and five other officials of the company after the incident.

The death toll due to the mishap is likely to rise as rescue operation is still on in the presence of six platoons of police officials.
