Rs 1 lakh snatched away from fish vendor at gunpoint

lootPatkura: Throwing an open challenge to Kendrapara Police on Thursday night, robbers snatched away around Rs 1 lakh at gun point from a fish vendor in Nolasahi village under Patkura panchayat in the district. The trader also sustained injuries in the incident.

According to reports, the victim trader Gourang Sethi of Ghusuriamal village was on his way to Nischintakoili market late on Thursday night when the pick-up van he was travelling in was intercepted by the looters by putting boulders on the road at Kothi Chhak near Nolasahi village. The looters—five to six in numbers—put Gourang at the gunpoint and then snatched away the cash bag he was carrying with him containing around Rs 1 lakh. Later on, the looters injured Gourang and his driver by thrashing him brutally before fleeing the spot.

The victims were rushed to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) this morning by police which has registered a case in the incident and launched a manhunt to nab the looters.
