Naveen, DharmendraBhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to meet Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi on August 18.

The Chief Minister and the Union Minister will discuss various issues, including issues related to the Paradip Oil refinery.

However, political pundits believe that the meeting between the two leaders is a sign of a new political equation in state politics as well as at the national level.  Speculation is rife that the BJD, the ruling party in Odisha, may formally join the NDA government at the Centre, strengthening the latter in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

Besides, BJD and BJP may go for a pre-poll alliance in Odisha if the general elections are held earlier than the scheduled time of 2019.

During his five-day long visit to the national capital starting today, Patnaik will also attend “Outlook’s Speak Out Programme.” He is scheduled to return on August 20.
