Bhubaneswar: After reports that a few players from England and Belgium have fallen ill, possibly due to ‘food poisoning’, the Hockey India has asked the local authorities to check if the best practices are being followed.

“Some of the teams have unwell athletes. So, as part of precaution, we have asked the local authorities to check if the best practices is being done. We are getting all the hotels checked,” said Elena Norman, CEO, Hockey India.

The Netherlands and Argentina are also reportedly facing the same problem.

Meanwhile, the issue is unlikely to cast a spell over Odisha being host for the Hockey World Cup next year.

Pakistan, which is one of the participating teams, is also welcome to Odisha, Norman said.

“They are welcome like any other countries. It is upto them to complete the Visa process and provide all details,” Hockey India CEO Elena Norman said.
