3rd Test ends in Draw, India win Series against Sri Lanka

New Delhi: India, the world No 1 Test team, equalled the world record for most series wins in Test cricket as the third Test against Sri Lanka ended in a draw at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground here on Wednesday.

Chasing a second innings lead of 410 runs, Sri Lanka made 373 for five at the close of play in the fifth and final day of the match. Dhananjaya de Silva (119) scored his third hundred in only his 11th Test, while Roshen Silva made an unbeaten 74 on debut.

The home team managed to take only two wickets – Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal today. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Shami shared one wicket each in the second innings.

Earlier, India declared their second innings at 246 for 5 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan made 67 runs, followed by Pujara 49, and Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both contributing 50 runs each. The visitors  were bowled out at 373 in their first innings.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who scored 610 runs in the series, bagged both the Man of the Match and Man of the Series award.

India had won the Nagpur Test by an innings and 239 runs while the rain-hit Kolkata game was drawn.
