Ranchi: Prominent leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have begun election campaign for the Assembly polls in Jharkhand. BJP is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to win the polls for second term under the leadership of Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
BJP President and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday kicked off party’s election campaign for the five-phase State Assembly polls. He accused the Congress of blocking the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Addressing an election rally at Latehar, Shah said, “You people tell me — Should a Ram temple be built in Ayodhya or not? But the Congress party was not letting the case be heard continuously. Now, the Supreme Court has delivered a historic verdict, paving way for a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya”
The Union Home Minister also raised the government’s move to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, accusing the Congress of allowing it to continue for decades.
“The Congress had allowed the Kashmir problem to continue for 70 years in its greed for a vote bank. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi removed the stigma of Article 370, bringing the Kashmir Valley on the path of development,” he said in another rally at Lohardaga.
Attacking the Congress, Amit Shah questioned Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi seeking an explanation on what the Congress did for the tribals in the seventy years after independence.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP working President J.P. Nadda attacked Gandhi family during a rally at Chandawa in Palamau district.
“Modi became Prime Minister and scrapped Article 370. For the last 70 years, enemies were eyeing Jammu and Kashmir. Only three families were getting benefits of Article 370 since 50 years. They were also instigating the separatists,” said Nadda .
Gadkari addressed a public rally at Vishrampur in Palamau district, where he launched a scathing attack on the Congress over poverty in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally on November 25 for the first phase of the Assembly election in which 13 constituencies will go to the polls on November 30.
Meanwhile, the process of filing of nomination papers for 15 Assembly seats commenced with the issuance of notification for the Fourth Phase yesterday.
The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to polls in five phases between 30th of November and 20th of December and the counting votes will be taken up together on 23rd of December.
