International Yoga Day is a global celebration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through the ancient Indian practice of yoga. Origin and Emergence of International Yoga Day:

The roots of this global movement trace back to a historic moment at the United Nations in 2014, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea of dedicating a day to yoga. His message was simple yet profound: yoga is not just exercise but ‘a pathway to peace’. The response was overwhelming. Within months, 177 nations co-sponsored the resolution, and June 21, the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere was chosen as the perfect day to celebrate this universal practice. Since its first observance in 2015, International Yoga Day has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, reminding humanity of the power of stillness in motion.
