Priya Priyamabada By Tazeen Qureshy, Bhubaneswar: From being a model to a solo traveller, Priya Priyamabada has tried everything which gives a woman a sense of freedom. She has travelled across the length and breadth of the country- from Rajasthan to the North East and from the neighbouring West Bengal to the pristine Kerala. Her recent international trip to Thailand has prompted her to travel more, and the United Kingdom could soon be her next destination.

Priya, who started her career as a model, is today a travel blogger, who also writes on fashion and lifestyle. A solo traveller, she is one of the rare women in Odisha to choose an adventurous life.

“As a child, travel had always interested me. But writing blogs started only after my wedding in 2015. After marriage, I went on a trip to Manali and that’s when I realised that there were not many independent information about tourist destinations. There were many commercial travel websites with a variety of information. So, I decided to start documenting my travel itinerary based on personal experiences to give people a real feel of the place,” says Priya.

Born in Bhadrak, the glamour industry was the first choice for Priya Priyambada. She was crowned Miss Stylish Odisha and has also featured in a Daboo Rattnani show in 2015. Priya was also a part of a reality show in Channel V and has appeared for many calendar shoots.

A full-time blogger now, she mostly travels alone and finances her own trip. “My husband is a businessman and is often busy. Ever since I decided to be a travel blogger, I knew I had to travel alone. Initially, the idea scared me. But a few solo trips later, I was a confident person,” she says.

Priya Priyambada is currently in the process of opening business options on her website to fund her travel. Though Rajasthan and Thailand are her favourite destinations, she dreams of travelling to Europe some day.

For all the women who love to travel but are hesitant, she has one advice, “Research well and travel alone to overcome your fear. The sense of being alone is another way of rediscovering yourself.”
