SCB Medical College Ranked 15th in IIRF 2026; AIIMS, VIMSAR, MKCG Also Feature
Odisha’s SCB Medical College ranks 15th in IIRF 2026, ahead of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, while VIMSAR and MKCG secure 64th and 74th positions.
Three Odisha government medical colleges have secured prominent positions in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2026 rankings, with SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka emerging as the state’s top-ranked institution at 15th nationally.
The result also places SCB ahead of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, which has been ranked 16th. It is the first time a government medical college from Odisha has surpassed AIIMS Bhubaneswar in the national rankings.
VIMSAR in Burla secured the 64th position, while MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur was placed 74th in the IIRF 2026 rankings.
The performance of the three institutions points to a stronger showing by Odisha’s government medical colleges across medical education, research and healthcare delivery, according to the report.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling congratulated the doctors, faculty members, students, nursing staff, health workers, administrative officers and other employees associated with the three ranked institutions.
He said the rankings should be viewed not only as an achievement but also as motivation for Odisha’s government medical colleges to improve their standing further at the national level.
