Recipe: How to prepare onion samosa at home

Onion samosa is super crispy with a delicious spicy onion filling. It is one of the popular snacks in India. It is also called Irani Samosa.  Making these at home will be fun as well as it is really easy to prepare.

Here are the ingredients needed and recipe:

Ingredients:

11 /2 cup onion Switz Samosa Patti 1 /2 cup flattened rice / 1 /3 cup semolina 1 /2 tsp salt 1 /2 tsp Chili powder 1 /4 tsp turmeric powder 1 /2 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp crushed coriander seeds 1 /2 tsp cumin powder 1 /2 tsp garam masala 1 tsp Mango powder coriander powder oil for frying, 1 tbsp flour + water

 

How to make (Step by step instructions)

Step 1- Take a bowl, add wheat flour and plain flour. Add 2 teaspoons of oil, salt and mix all together.

Step 2-  Add water little by little and knead into a soft yet slightly tight dough.

Step 3- Now,  apply some oil all over the dough.

Step 4- Keep the dough aside and let it rest for at least 2 hours. It is important to keep the dough at rest for developing the gluten.

Step 5-  After two hours after the dough’s rest,  knead the dough slowly and divide it into small balls.

Step 6- After making small balls, roll each ball into a very thin round of around 7 inches.

Step 7- Heat iron tawa over medium heat.

Step 8- Place each roti and cook for 20 seconds on each side.

Step 9-  Let the rotis cool thoroughly.

Step 10-  Stack the rotis and cut them into equal-sized strips.

Step 11-  Now we have 16 samosas Patti sheets from 8 Rotis.

Step 12- Combine chopped onions, green chilies, turmeric powder, chopped coriander leaves, and chili powder in a bowl.

Step 13- Add poha powder and required salt for taste. Mix it very well.

Step 14-  Mix 1/4 cup flour with some water and make a smooth paste. Take a prepared Patti sheet and some cornflour paste.

Step 15- Now,  fold the edges and form a triangle. Place 2 tbsp filling and paste the edges.

Step 16-  The next time is to slide 3-4 folded onion samosas as per the size of the pan.

Step 17 – Fry until it gets crispy and golden. Don’t forget to drain excess oil.

Step 18- Your onion Samosa is ready, serve hot onion samosa with cardamom tea.
