Odisha Fire Safety Certificate Notice Issued to 35 Empanelled Hospitals
SHAS cracks down on 35 Odisha hospitals under AB-PMJAY & GJAY schemes for missing fire safety renewals. Operations face immediate suspension if compliance fails.
The State Health Assurance Society (SHAS), under Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare department, cracked down on 35 major hospitals on June 8, 2026, warning them to renew their fire safety certificates. The critical notice was triggered because these healthcare facilities failed to submit their renewed fire safety certificates after the previous ones had expired, even though having valid fire safety clearance is non-negotiable. SHAS gave them just five days to get their paperwork in order.
SHAS made it clear that if these hospitals don’t hand in their renewed certificates within five days (June 13th), they’ll get suspended from government healthcare programs on the spot. Letting their fire safety cards lapse breaks the rules of big schemes like the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY).
The list of served institutions spans multiple districts and features some of the region’s most high-profile medical facilities. In Khurda, even big names like AIIMS, Apollo, Sparsh Hospitals, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, and Kar Vision are being called out. Over in Cuttack, SHAS flagged ASG Eye Hospital, Swastik Hospital, and Blue Line Hospital, plus several other hospitals spread across Angul, Balasore, Puri, Ganjam, Rayagada, and Sambalpur.
