Bhubaneswar: The Silver Jubilee ceremony of Odisha’s highest circulated popular monthly family magazine ‘Kadambini’ was held in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Gracing the ceremony Odisha Governor Raghubar Das said that Odia language has a rich history. Governor Sri Das inaugurated the ceremony and graced as the chief guest.
He said that Odia language is a unique treasure of cultural expression and sentiment. Honouring senior writers and encouraging newbies is a commendable job by Kadambini, he further said.
Kadambini has made a remarkable contribution in spreading and propagating Odia language and literature. The Governor said that Kadambini has become popular as it publishes writings that is loved by every member of the family.
In the welcome speech Founder of ‘Kadambini’ and ‘Kunikatha’ Dr. Achyuta Samant said that no such article has been published in Kadambini magazine in 25 years which has been criticized by people.
I had advised Kadambini’s Editor Dr. Iti Samant to not to use a single negative word in this magazine since its inception. And she has followed it till date, Dr Samant said.
Kadambini’s efforts in propagating Odia language, literature, culture and tradition in Odisha and outside are commendable, he said.
On this occasion, Dr. Samant informed that various programs will be held on behalf of Kadambini in different districts of Odisha across the Silver Jubilee year.
Along with this, Dr. Samant announced that 25 young writers from different districts of the State will be given fellowships for research on Odia language, literature and culture.
Eminent dramatist Anant Mohapatra, who attended as the guest of honor, said, “If we do anything successfully with determination, we can achieve success.” If you have self-belief, no work will be difficult. An example of this is Kadambini, he said.
Prominent journalist Pradosh Patnaik presided over the program and said that Kadambini has created a new history and identity by bowing down to seniors and encouraging juniors.

Kadambini Silver Jubilee Commemorative Postage Stamps, Kadambini Silver Jubilee Issue and Kunikatha July Issue were unveiled by the guests on the occasion.
On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee, seminars were held on various topics.
Prof. Savita Pradhan, Vice Chancellor of Odia University and Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University, eminent Litterateur Archana Naik, Eminent Film Director Himansu Sekhar Khatua, Eminent Researcher Parameshwar Mund, Eminent Musician Laxmikant Palit, Eminent Dance Guru Sneha Prabha Samantray, Eminent Actress and Director Aimee Barua, Bollywood Actress Meera Chopra, Bollywood actor Abhay Burma, Sportsperson Anuradha Biswal, Karatika Valina Valentina, Popular actor Sabyasachi Mishra, Eminent Chef Ms. Smritashree Singh were prominent participants.
Similarly, cultural programs were performed by KISS students, Anandpur Binapani Kala Niketan, Guru Ranjan Kumar Sahu and troupe, Guru Dhaneshwar Swain and troupe. The Kadambini theme song was sung by vocalist Antara Chakraborty and Swayam Padhi at the beginning of the inauguration ceremony.
