Monkey’s last rites performed like a human in Odisha’s Balasore district

Balasore: In a heart-warming display of human-animal bond, the last rites of a monkey has been performed in a village of Balasore district of Odisha recently by the villagers. The scene was witnessed in Junuda village of Remuna block.
As per reports, the villagers came together to bid a tearful farewell to their favourite monkey, Ramu.
The monkey had been a part of the village family for three years. It was bringing joy and laughter to the children and adults alike.
Ramu’s sudden illness and tragic death after being attacked by dogs left the villagers devastated.
Following it’s death, in a remarkable show of affection and respect, the villagers prepared a bier made of six bamboo sticks and carried Ramu’s body to the burial ground in a funeral procession amid chanting of ‘Hari Nam’ and the sounds of Sankirtan.
The villagers reportedly collected donations from each house to perform Ramu’s last rites, treating him with the same dignity and respect as a member of their own family.
The incident highlights the deep emotional connection that can develop between humans and animals, transcending species boundaries.
