International Yoga Day 2022: Easy Yoga Asanas to beat stress

Yoga is an ancient practice for a healthy body. However, it has gained even more popularity in today’s busy world for to its extraordinary benefits in keeping the body and mind in sound health. Yoga helps in improving strength, balance, and flexibility. People have also discovered the endless health benefits of practicing yoga.

Keeping the advantages of yoga in mind in addition to its roots to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi first proposed the idea of International Yoga Day in 2014, which was endorsed by a record 177 member states. Since then, each year on June 21, we observe International Yoga Day.

This year’s International Yoga Day theme will focus on ‘Yoga for Humanity’. Whether you are young or old, overweight or fit, yoga has the power to calm the mind and strengthen the body. If you are a beginner, check out these simple yoga poses for your mental and physical well-being.

Anjaneyasana or Crescent Moon Pose

The Crescent Moon pose is sometimes called Low Lunge pose, or Crescent Lunge Pose. Anjaneyasana is a deep stretch for the hip flexors and quadriceps. Bring your right leg forward and keep its knee parallel to the right ankle. On the same time, drop your left leg back feeling a little stretch at the pelvis. Raise your arms straight up keeping the palms together while bending the head backward and looking up. Slowly bend backward, stretching the arms and straightening out the right leg. Hold this position for 15-20 seconds before changing legs.

Bhujangasana or Cobra Pose

Cobra pose is a very powerful pose. During the initial stages of practice, a practitioner simply tries to build their physical capacity. Lie down on your stomach and raise your trunk and head supported by the palms. Bend your arms at the elbows while you arch your neck and look upward gently make sure that your stomach is pressed on the floor. Put pressure on your toes by pressing them onto the floor.

Vrikshasana or Tree Pose

Vrikshasana or Tree pose is exactly as per its name. In this asana, you have to pose like the sturdy trunk of a tree. Unlike all the other asana, Vrikshana needs you to keep your eyes open so you can maintain your balance. When done regularly, it helps in strengthening your spines and leg muscles.

Trikonasana Or Triangle Pose

 

‘Trikona’ is a Sanskrit word for ‘triangle.’ This pose can reduce stiffness in the spine and back, resulting in increased flexibility. The foundational posture is named for the triangle shape your body makes as you bring one of your hand to the floor and keep your feet grounded during the move.

Vajrasana or Thunderbolt Pose

Vajrasana is also called as Diamond Pose, and is undoubtedly one of the easiest yoga poses. The kind of benefits it offers is incredible as well. For this pose, you kneel and then sit back on your legs to take the weight off your knees.
