Bhubaneswar: Differently abled Tanmay Jena’s artwork is a world of vibrant colors and emotions. His paintings are so lively that as if it transports viewers to distant mountain ranges, lush forests or scenes of fiery tales.

Born in Keonjhar district of Odisha, 34 year old Tanmay faced challenges from a young age. He lost his mother as a child. He was born deaf and dumb. But despite these hurdles, Tanmay never gave up. His passion for art drove him forward, and he pursued his dreams with unwavering determination.

Tanmay’s journey as an artist began with his passion for drawing. He completed his matriculation examination in the Special Deaf and Dumb course in 2013, which marked a turning point in his life. He then joined BK College of Art and Craft, where he honed his skills and went on to complete his Master’s in Visual Arts from Utkal University. Currently, he’s preparing for his PhD, showcasing his commitment to his craft.

Tanmay’s art has taken him places. His paintings adorn the walls of prominent buildings, including the fire station academy in the capital city of Odisha. He’s also created stunning oil paintings of people, earning him fame and recognition.

His talent has been acknowledged with numerous awards, including the state-level Lalit Kala Akademi Award and recognition at BK Art College in 2018.

Despite being differently abled, Tanmay communicates effectively using a tablet and sign language. His positive attitude and determination inspire those around him. He’s stubbornly independent and refuses to let his disability define him.

Tanmay’s ultimate dream is to become an art director in Bollywood, putting Odisha on the global map. With his talent, perseverance, and passion, he’s well on his way to achieving his goals. His story is a testament to the power of art and determination, proving that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.

As Tanmay continues to create and inspire, his art will undoubtedly touch hearts and minds. His journey is a reminder that our abilities are what define us, not our disabilities.
