Amisha Vora: An Achiever Who Carved A Niche In The World Of Finance

A woman who walks in purpose does not have to chase people or opportunities. Her hard work is enough for people and opportunities to pursue her. She is fearless and does not hesitate to chase her dreams. Confident and determined, she believes in breaking the stereotypes. She challenges norms and dares to define them on her own terms. Let hell come or high water, she is undeterred in her quest for perfection. Perseverance and grit are two of her biggest tool which assit her in achieving the insurmountable.
Amisha Vora is one such woman who has defied all odds and is now a renowned figure in the world of finance and equity. Coming from a humble background, she escalated to success by virtue of her hard work, foresightedness and meticulous mind.
Amisha started her career in 1988 at the age of 21. She worked as a Chartered Accountant at JM Financial, a financial services bigwig in the late 80s. As an analyst, she dealt with analysing telco and making project reports stating her company’s earnings. Her association with JM Financial marked her rise to success as her innovative working style, sharp analytical skills and vision ensured that the company’s earnings soon doubled. It was a thrilling experience for the young CA and the company too acknowledged her contributions and inherent potentials.
Coming from a humble background, Amisha is an alumni of Narsee Monjee College, Mumbai and has been a batch topper all through her academic career. She was inspired by her father, a banker himself, to pursue a career in Chartered Accountancy. Even after marriage, she continued chasing her dreams; all thanks to her supportive husband and in-laws who always encouraged her to challenge her limits.
After a successful stint at JM Financial, Amisha Amisha, along with one of her colleagues at JM, Dilip Bhat, and professional category BSE card holder and an industry veteran Shailesh Merchant, started a company called Network, where she worked for nine years. Things took a turn when she was approached by Prabhudas Lilladhar(PL) in the year 2000 to join as a VP, FII Sales. After a few years, she was promoted to Head of Institutional Sales and eventually, as Director of Institutional Sales at Prabhudas Lilladhar.
In 2007, she became the Joint MD of Prabhudas Lilladher Capital Markets Pvt Ltd when they acquired an Investment Banking License.
Encouraged by the successful performance of the corporate advisory and investment banking businesses, she even spearheaded Prabhudas Lilladher’s foray in the NBFC realm. Since then, Vohra has been working towards strengthening her company’s presence in major key areas of finance and equity.
She is also credited to have introduced many new practises in Prabhudas Lilladhar viz. innovative stock advisory product, InvestActive, process automation initiatives and algorithm based advisory. She states that her formula for success is 2 Ps- Preparation and Perserverance.
A firm believer in Karma, Amisha believes success has not come easy to her. It was a journey full of challenges and her honesty and dedication helped her sail smoothly through all of it. With over 30 years of experience in the realms of finance and equities, she is one of the leading women entrepreneurs in the country and features regularly on renowned business channels like CNBC, ET Now where she shares her views and opinions about investment and finance. Amisha is also a member of the CII and was recently awarded as “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year” and as one of “Asia’s Most Admired Leaders”.
