Review:

The movie severely falters at its execution. It is conceptually a great story but the execution is simply outrageous. Maybe we should simply avoid looking for logic in the latest L Anand Rai movie.

Bauaa Singh wears his heart on his sleeve and has a huge huge crush on Babita Kumari. When he meets Aafiya. She is a cerebral palsy patient. He loves that he has finally met a woman that he could see eye to eye. She loves his simplistic view of the world. They decide to get married. On the eve of their wedding, Bauaa is kissed by Babita. Meanwhile, Babita had a bad breakup and just chances upon Bauaa.

A fine actor like Mohammed Zheshan Ayyub is wasted as a friend of Shahrukh Khan’s character.

Tigmanshu Dhulia and Sheeba Chaddha have short roles but their presence is felt.

There are a number of special appearances in the movie. The likes of Sridevi(her last on-screen performance), Salman Khan, Abhay Deol, R. Madhavan, Rani Mukherji, Kajol, Karishma Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt appear in the movie.

Like they say in the best of sci-fi films from the West, a miscalculation of an inch lands a spacecraft several miles off its destination. The trajectory of Zero meets the same fate. Director Aanand L Rai’s Zero starts well. Shah Rukh Khan plays to the gallery. He dances to Babita Kumari’s tunes in the theatre as India dances to his tunes in theatres off-screen. Khan romances both Sharma and Kaif with abandon. But he cannot save this disaster of a film.
