New Delhi: Vivek Oberoi on Tuesday deleted his offensive tweet sharing meme on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He also tweeted his apologies, mere hours after defending his actions.

Oberoi tweeted, “Sometimes what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one, may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2000 underprivileged girls, I can’t even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever.”

“Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies tweet deleted” said his second tweet.

The actor faced backlash for his offensive choice of words and Twitterati shredded him within seconds of posting the meme.

On Monday, Vivek Oberoi, in his defence, had said to ANI that he did not find the meme offensive and he will not apologise since he has not done anything “wrong”. He had also suggested to meet members of the Women’s Commission and explain them his side of the story.

It seems that by Tuesday, Oberoi got some sense hammered into him and he found it a better option to apologise.
