Veeru Devgan passes away in Mumbai

Mumbai: Bollywood’s most celebrated action director and father of actor Ajay Devgan, Veeru Devgan passed away at a private hospital here on Monday afternoon.

The director was admitted to Surya hospital at Santacruz as he complained of breathlessness this morning, family sources said.

He is survived by wife Veena Devgan, two sons – Ajay and Anil Devgan and two daughters – Kavita and Neelam Devgan.

The accomplished action director has choreographed fight and action scenes for over 80 Hindi films.

Some of his well-known work includes Phool Aur Kaante (1991), Dilwale (1994), Himmatwala (1983), Mr India (1987), Prem Pratigyaa (1989), Shahenshaah (1988) among others.

In 1999, he also directed a film – Hindustan Ki Kasam, starring his son Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Manisha Koirala and Sushmita Sen.
