Varun-Kiara’s ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ lands in legal trouble; Copyright Infringement case filed against the makers

A copyright infringement case has been filed against the makers of 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' in Ranchi. Only 4 days remained for the film's release.

The most anticipated family drama ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ is inching towards its release on June 24, 2022. Ahead of its theatrical release, the film has fallen into legal trouble. A copyright infringement case has been filed against the makers of the film in Ranchi.

As per the records, Vishal Singh, a Ranchi-based writer, has filed a copyright infringement case against Dharma Productions, and Viacom 18. In his statement, he has claimed that the contents of his film titled Punny Rani have been used in the film JugJugg Jeeyo. He also mentioned that no credit has been given to him by the makers.

Only four days are left for the film to hit the big screens and now the commercial court in Ranchi has ordered the makers to screen the film before the court.

Reportedly, the writer has demanded a compensation of Rs. 1.5 crore from the makers of JugJugg Jeeyo.

The court verdict is awaited, and now it is to see if the case affects the film’s release or not.

Along with Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani, the Raj Mehta directorial also stars Neetu Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Maniesh Paul, and Prajakta Kohli in pivotal roles.
