New Delhi: Comedian-actor Mushtaq Khan, who was recently seen in Stree-2, has managed to escape after being kidnapped from Delhi-Meerut highway. The actor has shared that the kidnappers tortured him for 12 hours and demanded a ransom of one crore rupees to release him.
Narrating about the incident, the actor was reportedly lured into Delhi through an invitation of attending an award show in Meerut on November 20. The kidnapper even gave flight tickets and an advance payment to attend the event. When he landed in Delhi, he was duped into getting into a car that transported him away from Delhi and into a secluded area near Bijnor.
He was held for nearly 12 hours and was allegedly tortured. Though the kidnappers demanded a ransom of one crore rupees, they were only able to get only Rs 2 lakh from Khan and his son’s bank account. The next day Khan managed to escape after releasing he is near a mosque and sought help from locals. With police intervention, he was able to return home safely.
Mushtaq and his family were deeply affected by the incident. But he was always certain that after he had composed himself, he would file an FIR.
A case has been filed in this incidentand investigation has been launched.
Meanwhile, another actor also had gone through a same incident a few days ago. Comedian Sunil Pal was similarly kidnapped under the pretext of attending an event. However, reports have emerged that Pal might have been complicit in the kidnapping. Pal has denied these allegation.
These eerie similar incidents have raised suspicions of the possibility of a syndicate targeting celebrities to extort money.
