Sridevi’s Favourite Saree Being Auctioned Online On Her First Death Anniversary

Mumbai: A purple handwoven Kota saree, one of Sridevi’s favorites, is being auctioned online on the occasion of her first death anniversary. The amount raised from the auction will be directed towards a cause.

A Chennai-based online platform called ‘Parisera’, which specializes in Indian handicrafts, is hosting the auction ‘Being Generous, With Sridevi’. The online platform informed that the Kapoor family has decided to donate the proceeds from the auction to Concern India Foundation, a charitable trust which has programmes for the benefit of women, children, the differently abled, the underprivileged and the elderly and works in the fields of education, health, and community development.


The bid started at Rs 40,000 a few days ago, is underway and had reached Rs 1,30,000.

Describing the saree as “light, bright and emanating the perfect essence of Sridevi”, officials at Parisera invited admirers to “bid for a part of the actress’s legacy while making a contribution towards the betterment of society”.

Earlier, Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor and their daughters – Janhvi and Khushi – held a puja in Chennai to mark the first death anniversary of the legendary actress, according to the Hindu calendar.

Called ‘Bollywood’s first female superstar’, Sridevi died aged 54 on 24th February 2018 due to accidental drowning in a bathtub at a Dubai hotel. Her death had sent shockwaves across the entire film fraternity, devastating family members and fans.
