Salman Khan’s comments about the age gap between him and Rashmika Mandanna during his film promotions of Sikandar. This has earned him a backlash from Sona Mohapatra, who criticised his view as outdated and called him emblem of toxic humanity.

Salman Khan said, “Bolte ho 31 years ka age difference hai hero-heroine me. Arree jab heroine ko koi problem nhi hai. Heroine ke father ko koi problem nhi hai, tumko kyu problem hai bhai” (you all say hero heroine has age gap of 31 years, when the heroine has no problem or his father has no problem, then why do you have a problem with it?)

To this the singer Sona Mohapatra tweeted saying, “garbage response on being asked about 31 year age gap with his leading lady, Bhai- of toxic masculinity, patriarchy doesn’t realise that India has changed?”

This is not the first time that the singer has taken a jibe at Salman Khan, who is fondly called as ‘bhaijaan’ by his fans. In 2019, singer reacted to Salman’s comments about Priyanka Chopra leaving his movie Bharat.

While promoting his film, Salman said that Priyanka had to leave the movie due to her wedding to Hollywood star Nick Jonas. The singer slammed the actor saying that Priyanka has better things to do rather than doing movie with him.

The singer has previously received death threats from bhaijaan’s fans for backlashing him. It seems that even this time actor’s fans have not taken it lightly. Many fans have mocked her for the tweet about him.

One user said, ‘why do you give your wisdom everywhere? Give it where it is needed!’ while another quipped, ‘if you have problems with him then don’t listen to him or see his movies. Just eat, sleep and make money that’s it. Do your work and let others do their work.’ While many others pointed out that there is nothing wrong in working with people with age gap. It is strictly professional and there’s nothing wrong or toxic about it.
