Shilpa Shetty gets relief in Richard Gere kissing case
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is discharged in the 2007 obscenity case involving Richard Gere. The case was filed against her after the Hollywood actor publicly hugged and kissed her during a promotional event in Rajasthan.
The incident took place during an event in Rajasthan on April 15, 2007, after which citizens in large numbers protested in many cities of the country. Varanasi, Bhopal, Kanpur, Delhi, and Mumbai are some of the places where the protests took place in large numbers.
On the very next day, an Indian court in Rajasthan issued a warrant for Shilpa and Gere’s arrest. However, following that a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court subsequently suspended the arrest warrants.
On Tuesday, Metropolitan Magistrate Ketaki Chavan reportedly claimed that Shilpa Shetty cleared her position shortly after the incident took place.
