September 2025 was a strong month for Indian cinema with both Bollywood and South Indian films pulling audiences to theatres. From big budget entertainers to socially relevant dramas, the box office saw a healthy mix of collections.

One of the biggest Bollywood successes of the month was ‘Jolly LLB 3’. Starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, the courtroom drama brought back the much-loved franchise with new energy. The film grew steadily after release and showed a clear jump in its second weekend.

On Saturday (September 27) alone, it earned Rs. 6.25 crore compared to Rs. 3.75 crore on Friday. In just nine days, its total crossed Rs. 84 crore which is a sign that the film is resonating strongly with audiences.

Another Bollywood release that caught attention was ‘Homebound’. Featuring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa, the movie started small with only Rs. 30 lakh on its opening day. However, word of mouth helped it pick up and it collected Rs. 50 lakh on day two.

While its box office figures are modest, the film gained huge recognition when it was announced as India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature category.

In the South, ‘Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra’ continued to shine. The superhero drama starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, has been running successfully for weeks. On its fourth week, it added another Rs. 3.25 crore making its lifetime total to Rs. 280 crore.

Meanwhile, ‘Mirai’ starring Teja Sajja faced a slowdown in its second week. The film collected Rs. 57 lakh on Saturday and has so far made nearly Rs. 85 crore.

While this is an impressive total, its run has been overshadowed by Pawan Kalyan’s action packed gangster drama ‘They Call Him OG.’ In just four days, the Pawan Kalyan starrer has already crossed the Rs. 140 crore mark in India.
