Salman Khan receives Global Diversity Award 2017

Salman KahanLondon: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan received the Global Diversity Award 2017 at the House of Commons in Britain on Friday. British Parliament’s longest serving Indian-origin MP Keith Vaz presented the award to the Dabangg star.

The actor was honoured for his outstanding contribution to the Indian film industry as an actor, producer, television personality and philanthropist.

Presenting the award, Vaz said “Salman Khan is a role model and a hero to millions of people worldwide.”

“Besides his Indian cinema success, Salman is a well- known philanthropist and his NGO Being Human has done life changing work supporting the underprivileged in India. It is a tremendous honour to present him with the award,” Vaz said.

Salman shared his achievements on the micro blogging site Twitter. “Honoured to get the Global Diversity Award at the House of Commons from British MP Keith Vaz #LondonDiaries #SKinUK . More on #BeingInTouch”, he posted on Twitter.

 

Salman said: “Thank you for the respect and honour you have given me. My father would never have believed that I would make it here. I would like to thank the fans for the respect that they have shown me….. Thank you so much for it.”

Previously, Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton and others have received the Global Diversity Award for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.
