Saiyaara becomes 2nd biggest movie of 2025, here are top 10 highest-grossing films of the year

Bollywood is still thriving in 2025, as many films are making waves at the box office. Chhaava, Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama, had an excellent run which made it a huge success, crossing Rs 600 crore domestic and over Rs 200 crore global. The success of the film silenced critics, thanks to the indelible performances of the star cast.

Saiyaara, featuring debutante actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has emerged as the second-largest hit of 2025, grossing almost Rs 200 crore in two weeks. The love story made Rs 35 crore on its opening Sunday and Rs 172.75 crore in its opening week. Its social media overnight success helped it top the box office as well.

Other highest-grossing movies of 2025 are Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5A, which earned Rs 190 crore locally, and L2:Empuraan, which earned Rs 268 crore globally amid controversy. Other mentions include Sitaare Zameen Par, which earned Rs 265 crore with its inspiring message, Sankrathiki Vasthunam (Rs 258 crore), Good Bad Ugly (Rs 248 crore), and Raid 2 and Thudarum, both of which earned Rs 235 crore apiece.

2025 has also been a launching pad for a number of fresh faces, and few of them have made a big mark. But not all debuts were successful, and some films had lukewarm openings. Saiyaara’s tale of success is a story of how social media can play a supporting role in the success of a new face. With a number of big releases still to come, box office battle is likely to get more intense in the second half of the year.
