Mumbai: Deepika Padukone has been in the news for all the right reasons. The actress, whose dreamy fairytale wedding with long time beau Ranveer Singh grabbed eyeballs, is currently gearing up for her next titled ‘Chapaak’. Directed by Meghna Gulzar of Raazi fame, the film will feature Deepika as an acid attack survivor. Chapaak also stars Vikrant Massey.
The Deep-Veer romance started six years back on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon ki Rasleela…. Ramlila’. The gorgeous couple tied the knot at Lake Como, Italy on November 14 and 15 as per the Konkani and Sindhi traditions. Soon after their return to India, Deepika and Ranveer hosted three grand receptions in Bengaluru and Mumbai which saw in attendance the entire film fraternity.
In an exclusive interview to Filmfare, Deepika opened up about her relationship with Ranveer and why she took so long to walk down the aisle with him. “When I look back, six months into it I was pretty much emotionally invested in us. After that, it was when do we get married? I was never unsure about him. Of course, in a six-year-long relationship, you go through your ups and downs but we never broke up. There was no major fight or saying let’s take time off and figure this out. We’ve fought; we’ve had our ups and downs. But we stuck through all of that,” said Deepika.
The ‘Padmavat’ actress also revealed that she and Ranveer got engaged four years back- something which only both their families knew about.
“We got engaged four years ago… No one knows this. We got engaged four years ago. Only his parents and my parents and our respective sisters knew about it.”
