Rakul Preet Shares First Look As Sridevi In NTR Biopic ‘Kathanayakudu’
Mumbai: Actress Rakul Preet Singh recently revealed her first look as Sridevi from the much awaited NTR Biopic titled Kathanayakudu. Sharing the first look picture on her official Instagram account, Rakul wrote- “Presenting the first look of Sridevi garu in NTR biopic!! hope you like it !”

Rakul later shared another picture where she features in a rain dance sequence, looking every bit like Sridevi.
The actress considers herself really fortunate to have received the opportunity of playing the superstar diva on-screen. Sharing her excitement, she told TOI, “I have been a big fan and recreating the diva on screen for the first time is a big responsibility. I hope I can do justice to it. The makers have full faith in me and I hope I can live up to it.”
Notably, the NTR Biopic is based on the life of actor-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s. Actress Sridevi, who passed away in Dubai in February this year, had started her acting career with South Indian films. During her teenage years, she appeared with NTR in several films including Vetagaadu, Kondaveeti Simham, Justice Chowdhary and Bobbili Puli.
Worth mentioning, the role of NTR’s wife Basavatarakam is being played by Vidya Balan while his son Nandamuri Balakrishna plays the titular role. Kathanayakudu went on floors in March and is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. The biopic also features Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj and Sumanthin prominent roles. Earlier it was reported that Deepika Padukone was being considered to play Sridevi. However, the part eventually went to Rakul Preet Singh.
The biopic will release in two installments – NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR Mahanayakudu. The first part is set to hit the screens on January 9, 2019 while the next will release on January 24, 2019.
