Rajkummar And Shraddha’s ‘Stree’ Wins Heart, Earns 6.82 Crore On Day 1

Mumbai: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Stree’ has done remarkably well on day 1 of its release. The horror-comedy film has opened at Rs 6.82 crore at the box office and has been receiving mostly positive reviews from the critics. It is being estimated that the film will maintain its pace and the box office figures will go up in the weekend. The cast of the film has been receiving rare reviews for their performances which is adding to the word of mouth publicity of the film.

Revealing the film’s first day collections, trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “When numbers do the talking… #Stree surpasses the expectations and estimations and posts a SUPERB number on Day 1… Biz is expected to multiply over the weekend… Fri ₹ 6.82 cr. India biz… Hugely positive word of mouth has translated into BO numbers.”

Adarsh further praised the film and wrote that Stree’s plot is unusually out of the box, with a gripping screenplay, terrific eerie moments, witty one-liners and superb performances by its talented starcast.


Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Stree is a horror comedy which depicts the story of a mysterious female ghost who abducts men in the night and leaves behind their clothes. It is loosely inspired by the urban legend of “Nale Ba” that had gone viral in Karnataka in the 1990s.

The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana in the lead roles and has been shot at real locations in Chanderi and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
