Priyanka Chopra engaged to Nick Jonas, no longer a part of ‘Bharat’

Mumbai: As per official sources, Priyanka Chopra is engaged to Nick Jonas after a brief courtship of two months. This news resurfaced hours after it was reported that PC has opted out of Salman Khan starrer ‘Bharat’. Priyanka’s fans all over the world were eagerly waiting to see her make a comeback opposite Salman Khan in ‘Bharat’. However, the superstar actress, who had earlier given her nod to star in Ali Abbas Zafar directed ‘Bharat’ decided to bow out of the film.

This news was confirmed by the director of the film Ali Abbas Zafar on his official twitter handle. In a tweet, Abbas Zafar wrote-

“Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special , she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her … Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life 😊😉😍”


This tweet set many a tongues wagging and while people were busy speculating whether Priyanka is planning to tie the knot with her alleged beau Nick Jonas, news came in that the couple is already engaged. As per reports, the couple got engaged on PC’s 36th birthday in London.

Nick(25) and Priyanka(36) had started dating in May this year. Since then, they have been spotted at numerous high-profile events and parties including the Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert show in Los Angeles besides many private dinners. The couple also met each other’s families. Nick had come down to India in June to meet Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra.

The Quantico actress, who has been busy shuttling between India and the United States due to work commitment, was all set to make her Bollywood comeback with ‘Bharat’. She last appeared on the silver screen in Prakash Jha’s ‘Jai Gangajal’ in 2016.

After opting out of ‘Bharat’, Priyanka next Bollywood release will be Shonali Bose’s ‘The Sky is Pink’ which also stars Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim of Dangal fame.

In the meanwhile, Salman Khan has commenced the shooting of ‘Bharat’, along with Tabu and Disha Patani. The film is an official remake of the 2014 South Korean film Ode to My Father and is scheduled to release on Eid in 2019.
