Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who has been appreciated for his portrayal of invader Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, is elated to have received a handwritten note of acclamation from megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Saying the letter as his “award”, an overwhelmed Ranveer took to twitter to share the picture of the note and a bouquet Bachchan sent him after watching the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie.

Mujhe mera award mil gaya (I have got my award) @SrBachchan,” captioned the tweet.

Padmaavat is based on lore that 14th century ruler Alauddin Khilji fell madly in love with Padmini, the queen of Chittor. Choosing honour over a life in Delhi, Padmini and the other women of Chittor killed themselves by leaping into a fire – a practice called jauhar.

Besides Ranveer, Padmaavat features Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad.

Padmaavat is going strong at the box office, despite not releasing in some states and acts of vandalism in various parts of the country. The movie has already collected over Rs 114 crore within just four days of its release.
