“On this side of my face, I can’t smile”, says Justin Bieber as his half-face gets paralysed

Washington: Justin Bieber, the prominent pop artist, said on Instagram on Friday that he had been diagnosed with a virus that has paralysed half of his face.

The sickness led the singer to cancel some planned shows in order to focus on his recuperation.

In an Instagram video, Bieber stated that he had Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which affected nerves in his ear and face. He observed that his right eye was not blinking, and he added “On this side of my face, I can’t smile. This nostril will not move. As a result, this side of my face is completely paralysed.”

He apologised for the cancellation of the show.

Bieber, a 28-year-old singer, said he was physically unable to perform at his forthcoming shows but was doing facial exercises and expected to recover. “It will resume normal,” he said. “It’s just time, and we don’t know how much time there will be.”
Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS), also known as herpes zoster oticus, is a rare but serious condition characterised by facial weakness or paralysis and an outer ear rash.

Beiber, who is presently on a 130-date Justice world tour in North America, has cancelled shows in Toronto, Washington, DC, and New York.
