Most Awaited movies of 2019

Bhubaneswar: The year 2018 was a great year to be a Hindi movie lover. As a viewer we saw some amazing cinema being made.  And in 2019 another set of astounding movies will be released.

Content driven movies were true kings of Hindi movie box offices. Films such as Raazi, October, Manmarziyan, Padmaavat, Andhadhun, Badhai Ho Badhai, Omerta, Sanju, Stree, Newton, Sui Dhaga, Padman, Veere Di Wedding, Gold were some of the movies that were very much applauded in 2018.

Here are some of the movies set to release in 2019:

Uri: The Surgical Strike

Uri: The Surgical Strike

Talented Vicky Kaushal had a great 2018 and his latest movie is based on the surgical strike undertaken by the Indian Army at Uri, Kashmir. He and his co-actors had to undergo rigorous boot camp training to look real Army men. The movie also stars Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam, Kriti Kulhari, and Mohit Raina in lead roles. The movie is set to be released on January 11.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi

This periodic drama marks the directorial debut of talented Kangana Ranaut. Kangana will be essaying the role of Rani Laxmibai, the queen of Jhansi. The film has hit some hurdles, but Kangana is making sure that her movie reaches the mark. Scheduled for January 25 release, Manikarnika also stars Ankita Lokhande and Zeeshan Ayyub in important roles.

Gully Boy

Gully Boy-Trailer

Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starring in the lead and directed by Zoya Akhtar, this movie is set to release on February 14. The recently released trailer has garnered a lot of interest too. Ranveer Singh is playing the role of a hip-hop rapper in the movie. The film also stars Kalki Koechlin.

Set in 1940, this epic drama stars Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt. The social circle is abuzz since the poster of the movie was posted. The movie is set to be released on April 19.

Alia’s another release of the year also stars Ranbir Kapoor. This movie is directed by Ayan Mukherji. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akkineni Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy in important roles. The movie is set to hit theatres around Christmas this year.

Student of The Year 2 (SOTY2)

The sequel of the successful SOTY, SOTY2 stars Tiger Shroff and debutants Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria. Original SOTY marked the beginning of the career for starlets Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. SOTY 2 will be directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The movie is slated to be released on May 10.

Ek Ladki ko Dekha To Aisa Laga

Real-life father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam Kapoor are set to play reel father-daughter for this movie. The movie’s trailer was released a few days ago and had created a lot of interest with its quirky yet subtle hints. The trailer suggested Sonam might be playing a closet homosexual. This might be one of a kind to be released on large screen.

Another period drama of the year, stars Parineeti Chopra and Akshay Kumar in lead roles. Akshay reprises the role of Havildar Ishwar Singh, who leads the troop of Sikh soldiers in the British army to battle against the Pashtun Orazkai tribesmen. The movie is set to be released on March 21.

Mission Mangal

Slated as of the biggest films to be released in 2019, this movie has the stellar cast of Tapsee Pannu, Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Kriti Kulhari and Nithya Menon in lead roles. Jointly produced by Fox Star Studios and Cape Of Good Films, Mission Mangal is going to be India’s first space film. It is based on India’s Mars mission. The film is slated to release on August 15.


The movie will bring back popular on-screen couple Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Bharat is an official remake of Korean film, Ode To My Father and is scheduled for June 5 release. It also has Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Jacky Shroff in interesting roles.

Saaho poster

This movie is set to be ‘Bahubaali’ star Prabhas’ Hindi debut. Shraddha Kapoor also stars in it. The movie is making a lot of rounds. The film also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff and Chunkey Panday. This tri-lingual (Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil) movie is slated to be released on n August 15.

Super 30

The movie stars Hrithik Roshan who will play the role of a mathematician Anand Kumar. Debutant Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Tripathy play important roles. For information, Anand Kumar is the founder of Super 30, an educational programme where 30 meritorious students from low-income backgrounds are chosen and trained to get into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The movie hit hurdles when Anand’s claims were rumoured to be false. It was heard that the movie changed its theme to a fictional person undertaking the mammoth task of tutoring students to IIT.
