Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar’s final journey begins: Mortal remains being taken to Shivaji Park

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar died at the age of 92 due to a multi-organ failure in Mumbai on Sunday, February 6. She will be cremated at Shivaji Park maidan with full state honours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at the venue in Mumbai to pay his last respects to the nightingale of India. He will reach the funeral ground at around 5:45-6:00pm today, after which the singer’s last rites will be conducted at around 6:15-6:30pm, said BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.

The mortal remains of Lata Mangeshkar were draped in the Tricolour as they were taken to Shivaji Park for the last rites. The truck in which her body was being taken to the funeral ground was decorated with flowers and a beautiful photo of the legendary singer.

Before the last rites of the legend, her mortal remains will be kept at the park for her fans and family’s near and dear ones from the industry to pay their last respects.

A large crowd also gathered outside Lata’s Peddar residence road to say a final goodbye to their beloved singer.

Bollywood’s ace photographer Viral took to his Instagram page to drop some videos from the ground.
