Mumbai: Paritosh Gupta, a cybersecurity expert, is making headlines after winning the fastest finger first round on Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. He lives in a small 100 sq ft chawl with his family and hopes to buy a home with the amount he won on the show.
In the latest of KBC 16, Gupta competed with Anshuman Mathur in the Challenger’s round, and emerged as the winner, landing a seat in the hotseat. As a cybersecurity consultant, Gupta’s pad is a world away from his ambitions.
When asked what is yet to be desired, Gupta replied, “I have always lived in this chawl with my parents, and now I am married. My dream is to own a house, and I hope to achieve this with my winnings.”
The game started with a question worth Rs 20,000, which Gupta answered correctly. The question was: In Mumbai, which of these names refers to both a railway station and a racecourse? Gupta chose option C, Mahalakshmi, which was the correct answer.
Host Amitabh Bachchan was, of course, sharing a personal anecdote. He recalled: “My father once wrote to me, ‘Dhan kop rapt karne ke liye jab tak khoon paseena na nikle usko prapt nahi karna chahiye. It was his way of telling me to avoid shortcuts to wealth.”
Paritosh was using his lifelines judiciously. He availed the audience poll for the Rs 40,000 question and video calling a friend for the Rs 3,20,000 and Rs 6,40,000 questions. He got the answer wrong for the Rs 6,40,000 question.
When asked what his dream home was like, he said, “A 1BHK flat costs at least Rs 1 crore. I hope to win enough to make a down payment.”
