Bhubaneswar: The teaser of Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited epic film ‘Manikarnika’ has been unveiled by the makers on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti today. In the two-minute long video, Kangana stuns as Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi who fearlessly takes on the cruel Britishers during the first war of independence in 1857.
The teaser is narrated by Amitabh Bachchan in his gripping voice stating how India was a land of gold and welcoming people who were deceived, looted and killed by the cunning East India Company. Kangana is first seen as a young girl, then the queen of Jhansi who turns into a fearless, brave warrior demanding ‘azaadi’ or freedom from the British. The trailer showcases intense battle scenes full of sword fights and horses and warriors charging ahead. It also showcases Kangana’s Jhansi ki Rani fighting the British sepoys with her son next to her.

Going by the teaser, the film promises to be a glorious saga depicting the bravery, valour and fearlessness of the queen of Jhansi Rani Laxmi Bai, whose name is etched in golden letters in the history of India.
Also starring TV actress Ankita Lokhande, Suresh Oberoi and Jishu Sengupta, Manikarnika is slated for theatrical release on January 25, 2019.
