Mumbai: It has been confirmed that Kangana Ranaut will play the former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha in her biopic. The announcement date also coincides with the Manikarnika star’s birthday.
The legendary actress turned politician was fondly referred to as ‘Puratchi Thalaivi’, which means ‘revolutionary leader’. And hence that bilingual film is scheduled to be titled as Thalaivi in Tamil and Jaya in Hindi.
The film will be directed by A.L. Vijay, one of the leading filmmakers from South who has made landmark films like Madradapattinam and Deiva Thirumagal.
The biopic will be written by K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, who has also penned Baahubali and Manikarnika.
While ‘Amma’ Jayalalitha was a prolific leader, Kangana Ranaut has been known to give authentic performances in her each film.
Apart from this film, Kangana will also be seen in Rajkummar Rao’s Mental Hai Kya and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwary’s Panga.
