Mumbai: Director Ali Abbas Zafar has confirmed that Jackie Shroff will be playing the role of Salman Khan’s father in Bharat. Sharing the news on Twitter, Ali wrote- Welcome to @Bharat_TheFilm @bindasbhidu

On the addition of Jackie Shroff to the starcast of Bharat, the director said, “We met Jaggu da in London and discussed his dates and looks. I have wanted to work with him for a long time as I feel he is the perfect amalgamation of a star and actor. I was very glad as Jackie sir instantly agreed with the story to do the film in just 20 minutes of narration.”
Notably, the Malta schedule of Bharat was wrapped recently. The teaser of Bharat was revealed by superstar Salman Khan on Independence Day. The actor had shared the teaser on his official Instagram handle and captioned it: “Kuch rishte zameen se hote hai. Aur kuch khoon se. Mere paas dono thee.”
Salman had also revealed the first look still of Bharat a few days back, which featured him and Katrina Kaif. The still, which appears to be from a song in the movie has Katrina dressed in an emerald green lehenga, romantically embracing Salman who is dressed in a black sherwani.
Bharat went on floors in July and stars Tabu, Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Nora Fatehi. Earlier, Priyanka Chopra was confirmed to play the lead opposite Salman but was replaced by Katrina after she quit the project. In the film, Salman is playing the role of a daredevil stuntman and has undergone multiple look test as his character in the film traverses across decades; right from the 1960s to present date. Bharat is scheduled to release in Eid 2019.
