Bhubaneswar: Rumour has it that Kangana Ranaut is at present the highest-paid actress in Bollywood. Till ‘Padmavat’ Deepika was the highest paid actor. Last year, the ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ actor made headlines when it was reported that she was paid more than her co-stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh for ‘Padmavat’. The actress told India Today Television, that she had demanded it as she knew that she deserved it.
However, things have changed. As per a latest report Kangana is charging Rs. 14 crores for her upcoming magnum opus ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ where she will be seen playing Jhansi rani Laxmi Bai.
After director Krish left the biopic to work on the NTR biopic down South, Kangana stepped in as director of ‘Manikarnika….’ The actress was quoted saying, “Although it was very accidental, that I became the director of the film in the end but when it happened, I was quite taken aback. However, when I dwelled into it, it was quite an amazing process and so I can say that directing the film was quite a gratifying experience.”
Anyway, after several ups and downs, ‘Manikarnika…’ will release on January 25, 2019.
