‘Happy Phir Bhaag Jayegi’ Has A Slow Start, Collects 2.70 Crore On Day 1

Mumbai: The Diana Penty-Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi’ had a slow start at the box office. On day 1 of its release, the film opened to lukewarm response and earned Rs 2.70 crore at the box office.

Tweeting out the movie’s day 1 collection, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted-

“#HappyPhirrBhagJayegi has a slow start on Day 1… Fared better in North… Needs to witness substantial growth over the weekend + maintain a strong trend on weekdays to leave a mark… Fri ₹ 2.70 cr. India biz… First part had collected ₹ 2.32 cr on Day 1.”

The film has largely received negative reactions from critics who have panned the script and the abysmal performances by some of the lead actors. While some called the movie inconsistent and farcial, others have criticised Sonakshi Sinha’s lack-lustre acting. However, critics have praised Jassie Gill and Jimmy Shergil, whose spectacular performances elevated the otherwise bland film.

Notably, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is the sequel to 2016 film Happy Bhag Jayegi and stars Sonakshi Sinha, Diana Penty, Jimmy Sheirgill, Ali Fazal, Piyush Mishra and Jassi Gill in lead roles. Directed by Muddasar Aziz, the film is produced by Krishika Lulla and Aanand L Rai of Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa fame.
