Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Pattnaik was undoubtedly a legend. How can we forget the Indonesia episode of 1947? Back then when the Dutch attempted to suppress Indonesian independence on 21 July 1947, President Sukarno ordered Sjahrir, the former prime minister of Indonesia, to leave the country to attend the first Inter-Asia Conference, organised by Nehru, in July 1947 and to stimulate international public opinion against the Dutch. However, Sjahrir was unable to leave as the Dutch controlled the Indonesian sea and air routes. However, Nehru asked the adventurous and avid pilot Biju Patnaik to rescue Sjahrir. Patnaik flew to Java and brought Sultan Sjahrir out on a Dakota reaching India via Singapore on 24 July 1947. For this act of bravery, the legend was awarded the ‘Bhoomi Putra’, the highest Indonesian award.
Biju Pattnaik was not only a successful political leader but he was also known as a brave pilot. His life is full of many exemplary acts and surely deserves to be filmed.
Perhaps to present many such inspiring episodes of the former Odisha Chief Minister, award-winning Odia film producer Akshay Parija has joined hands with director Nilamadhav Panda and leading actor of Odia films Anubhav Mohanty to come up with an Odia film.
First poster launch of the film ‘Biju Babu’ which depicts the political and heroic achievements of the former Odisha chief minister was released recently in Cuttack. The film is based on the life and ideology of Biju Patnaik. Huge number of Anubhav fans and movie lovers remained present at the venue to cheer the film’s launching. The film’s plot is related to nook and corner of Odisha.”
Music director Prem Anand said, “From the title only, you must be knowing that this is an original film. The film has five songs of different genre. And I will have to put much effort to compose the songs,”
In the event actor Anubhav said, “I have spent long fifteen years in Odia films, which seems to me like a very short span. And I could do it because of your love and blessings. Now, there is a big surprise for completion of my 15 years in Odia film. To be made under the banner of Prakash Films and Akshay Parija Productions, the film is scheduled to release this April.
