First look of Vicky Kaushal as Sardar Udham Singh released

New Delhi: The first look of Uri actor Vicky Kaushal from Sardar Udham Singh, a biopic on the legendary freedom fighter, was released on Tuesday and it shows him on the streets of St Petersburg. The actor sports a suave hairstyle and a wound mark on his right cheek and can be seen dressed in an overcoat.

Vintage cars and a Russian woman can also be seen in the frame.

Udham Singh was the one who tracked down and killed Acting Brig-Gen Reginald Dyer who was responsible for the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919. Over a thousand people died after British soldiers opened fire on a crowd of unarmed and peaceful protestors in Amritsar, and the incident became a turning point in the history of British rule in India.

The Rising Sun Films production has been written by Ritesh Shah (Pink, Raid) and Shubendu Bhattacharya (Madras Cafe). The movie marks Kaushal’s first collaboration with Soojit Sircar, who has directed Vicky Donor (2012), Piku (2015) and October (2018). Sardar Udham Singh is aiming for a 2020 release.
