Farhan Akhtar-Shibani Dandekar’s wedding tomorrow: from mehendi to sangeet, all you need to know
Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar are all set to tie the knot on Saturday and a civil ceremony will reportedly take place on Monday. The family has been quite discreet about this wedding as they don’t want the media to turn up at the venue, therefore, the ceremony will be held with the presence of family and close friends only.
The arrangements regarding the festivities is still unclear as everything is under wraps but, sources have revealed that it will be a Maharashtrian wedding.
Reportedly, the couple will register the wedding at their Bandra house on February 21. Following the registration a reception of sorts will be held for friends and colleagues in the evening.
Another source claims that Farhan and Shibani will tie the knot on the 19th and on 21st they will have a court marriage.
Earlier, Farhan’s father and lyricist Javed Akhtar confirmed the marriage news in an interview and said that it will take place in February. He also said that the preparations for all the ceremonies will be taken care of by the wedding planners. ‘Taking the situation into consideration it is obvious that we cannot host anything on a large scale. So, we are only calling a few people. It will be a very simple affair,” he added.
The pre-wedding ceremonies of the love bird took place in Mumbai yesterday. The mehendi event was held in the actor-director’s home, and a few visuals from the festivities has surfaced online. In the pictures and video, actress Rhea Chakraborty, a close friend of the bride, can also be spotted within a group of seated women. The wedding squad very clearly chose the colour yellow as the colour code for the haldi ceremony. Shabana Azmi, who is Farhan Akhtar’s stepmother, was dressed in a sunny shade.
The bride’s sister Anusha Dandekar also made heads turn in a beautiful yellow saree paired with natural makeup and a crowned maang tikka.

The couple’s pre-wedding functions are happening in full swing. After last eve’s mehendi ceremony, the couple is set to have their sangeet ceremony today. According to the sources, Shibani’s friends have organised a sequence of dance performances that they will be performing in the singer’s sangeet. Reportedly, Farhan will also be performing a special song for his lady love.
Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar started dating in 2018. Farhan was earlier married to celebrity hairstylist Adhuna Bhabani, with whom he has two daughters – Shakya and Akira.
On work front, Farhan will soon be making his directorial return with a film called Jee Le Zaraa, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
